A MF cruise with the museum steamer "Wal"

Wal-Logo

Icebreaker "Wal"

The 3-days Northsea cruise with the former icebreaker and museum steamer SS "Wal" was for all participating MF Runde members a very special experience.

Though specially at Saturday of 24. May, the weather around Helgoland island was foggy and rainy, especially on Saturday, everybody on board was in roary high spirits.

The ship set up in 1938 for the first time into service is in very-well kept state and now equipped with comfortable passenger cabins.

Without any problems a good antenna alongside fit over the masts as well as a radio equipment was installed after MF boarded the ship. The radio station was from the morning as of 23. May (starting from Bremerhaven) until the evening of 25. May 2003 (arrival at Bremerhaven) as DL0MFM/mm QRV which was during the stay in front of Helgoland only interrupted by going ashore, sitting together at night in the ships comfortable saloon.

Victor (UA2FM) MF 588.

Until november 2002 he sailed as a Chief Communication Officer on MV "MARCO POLO",
(ex. "Alexander Pushkin"), a passenger vessel of the Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL). Then
he changed to the super class passenger vessel "Norwegian Dawn" which has been put in
service at November 2002 in Papenburg.

Marco4

With "Norwegian Dawn", which has been built at the Meyer yard in Papenburg, he sailed
first to Southampton/England and from there to New York. After this Victor changed to
MV "Crown Odyssey" and is at the time being sailing with her to Pago-Pago, Apia, Fiji
Islands and Vanuatu. Moreover it is possible that his schedule includes Sydney. About a
further employment on "Norwegian Dawn" to the Caribian seas and to the coasts of
Mexico has not yet been decided.
If we are lucky we can welcome our Victor at 2003 in Bremerhaven where then his new
ship will be put into service.
